About the Event
Wednesday, April 23, Whisky Week heads to St. George Spirits in Alameda for an intimate evening of whisky, conversation, and craft. This special gathering brings together Lance Winters and Dave Smith of St. George Spirits with Bryan Do of Ki One Distillery for a rare discussion about innovation, risk, and what it takes to build something original when there is no roadmap.
At the center of the evening is a simple but powerful idea: what does it mean to lead, rather than follow? For St. George, that question has shaped decades of boundary-pushing American distilling. For Ki One, it means helping define a new chapter in whisky as Korea’s first single malt distillery. Together, they’ll explore what it takes to create something new, stay true to your point of view, and earn belief one bottle at a time.
Moderated by Adam Rogers, author of Proof: The Science of Booze, the conversation will move through heritage, experimentation, identity, and the long view of whisky making—then open into audience Q&A before transitioning into a tasting experience.
Guests will enjoy a welcome highball, a guided tasting of six whisky expressions, small bites throughout the evening, and post-event open tasting of rare and limited releases including distillery-only exclusives. More than a tasting, this is a chance to spend time with the distillers, hear the stories behind the bottles, and continue the conversation in the kind of setting Whisky Week does best.
